Air Cargo for Clothing and Textiles from China to Pakistan

Warehouse staff measuring protected fabric rolls while a Pakistani clothing importer reviews approved textile swatches

Direct answer: Clothing and textiles, including fabric rolls, garment samples, and trims, can often move from China to Pakistan by air cargo after the exact products, fibre composition, value, packaging, dimensions, branding, and any chemical or battery content are reviewed. Mohsin Air Cargo normally targets 7–14 days for eligible cargo after the goods and required information are ready.

Textile cargo is frequently light for its volume, so compact but safe packaging can affect the price as much as the actual weight. Ordinary dry garments may be straightforward, but textiles are not automatically unrestricted: coatings, treatments, adhesives, cleaning chemicals, powered components, animal-origin materials, brand issues, or import controls can change the assessment.

Which clothing and textiles are suitable for air cargo?

Product Why businesses use air cargo Checks before dispatch
Fabric and colour samples Approval before bulk production Swatch reference, composition, finish, colour identification, quantity
Ready-made garments Launch stock or urgent replenishment Size assortment, labels, brand authority, carton packing
Fabric rolls Specialty or production-critical material Roll length, width, net/gross weight, core protection, moisture barrier
Trims and accessories Buttons, zips, thread, elastic, labels, hooks, embellishments Material, sharp components, magnets, batteries, adhesives, brand marks
Finished textile goods Bedding, towels, uniforms, bags, or home textiles Fibre content, set quantity, packaging volume, labels, intended use
Machinery spares Production-critical replacement parts Exact function, material, oil residue, dimensions, weight, wooden packing

Air cargo is usually considered when the commercial cost of waiting is greater than the higher transport cost: samples, missing production inputs, seasonal inventory, high-value material, or a limited replenishment quantity. Mohsin Air Cargo currently provides air-cargo services, not sea freight.

Information to collect from the Chinese supplier

Before requesting a quote, obtain:

  • Clear product name and intended use
  • Fabric or garment composition, such as cotton, polyester, nylon, wool, silk, or a blend
  • Quantity by roll, piece, size, colour, and style
  • Country-of-origin, care, size, brand, and other labels applied to the goods
  • Number of cartons or rolls and expected packed dimensions
  • Net and gross weight
  • Declared commercial value and supplier invoice
  • Details of coatings, solvents, adhesives, treatments, chemicals, liquids, magnets, batteries, or electrical parts
  • Pakistan delivery city and required arrival date

Do not describe a mixed shipment simply as “cloth” or “garments.” Accurate product and composition details support eligibility, quotation, and customs classification.

How chargeable weight affects textile shipping cost

Air cargo is commonly charged using the greater of actual gross weight and volumetric weight. The applicable formula must be confirmed in the quotation.

Illustrative example only: suppose one packed garment carton measures 80 × 60 × 50 cm and weighs 28 kg. If a provider applies a divisor of 6,000:

80 × 60 × 50 ÷ 6,000 = 40 kg volumetric weight

In that example, the chargeable weight would be 40 kg rather than 28 kg. It is not a quotation, and a provider may use a different divisor or rounding method. Ask for the final measured dimensions, gross weight, formula, and rounding rule.

Mohsin Air Cargo’s indicative China-to-Pakistan range is PKR 2,750–20,000 per kg. The broad range is not a fixed textile rate. Chargeable weight, product type, packaging, route, documents, capacity, handling, and Pakistan delivery location determine the shipment-specific price. See our air-cargo rate guide.

How to reduce volume without damaging textiles

  1. Ask for packed dimensions before production is complete. Packaging can then be redesigned while the supplier still has options.
  2. Remove unnecessary retail void space. Do not remove protection, required labels, or packaging essential to product condition.
  3. Fold garments consistently. Use suitable inner bags and carton sizes matched to the assortment.
  4. Roll fabric firmly around a protected core. Prevent bending, crushing, telescoping, and exposed roll ends.
  5. Consider compression carefully. Test whether compression causes permanent creasing, pile damage, print transfer, delamination, or loss of loft.
  6. Confirm the final dimensions after repacking. Estimated savings do not count until the packed cargo is measured.

Vacuum compression is not appropriate for every textile. Velvet, structured garments, padded items, coated fabric, embroidery, delicate trims, and crease-sensitive material may be damaged by excessive compression.

Packaging fabrics, garments, and trims for air cargo

Fabric rolls

  • Use a sound core suitable for the roll’s length and weight.
  • Protect roll ends against impact and abrasion.
  • Use a clean moisture barrier without trapping wet fabric.
  • Secure the wrap so it cannot loosen during handling.
  • Label each roll with its unique item, colour, lot, length, and roll number where applicable.

Ready-made garments

  • Use clean inner bags where suitable and strong, dry outer cartons.
  • Keep size, colour, style, and carton quantities consistent with the packing list.
  • Protect embellishments, buttons, zips, and printed surfaces from rubbing.
  • Avoid overfilling cartons until they bulge or split.
  • Use tamper-evident sealing for higher-value garments when appropriate.

Trims and small accessories

  • Separate styles, colours, and production lots in labelled inner packages.
  • Contain sharp metal components so they cannot puncture packaging.
  • Disclose magnets, batteries, adhesives, liquids, or chemicals.
  • Protect fragile beads or ornaments from compression.

Use the detailed China-to-Pakistan air-cargo packaging guide when specifying supplier cartons.

Moisture, odour, and contamination controls

Textile damage can occur even when the outer carton is intact. Goods should be clean and dry before sealing. Consider:

  • Dry storage before packing
  • Suitable moisture barriers and desiccants where appropriate
  • Protection from rain during loading and domestic transfer
  • Separation from oils, dyes, chemicals, food odours, and dirty machinery parts
  • Clean pallets or protective base sheets
  • Mould, odour, stain, and dampness checks before dispatch

A desiccant does not correct fabric that was packed while damp. The supplier must control moisture before sealing.

Quality-control checks before the supplier releases goods

Freight receiving does not replace textile inspection. A garment or fabric inspection may need to check:

Area Possible check
Identity Style, colour, size, roll, batch, and purchase-order match
Composition Supplier declaration or appropriate test evidence
Fabric Width, weight, length, shade variation, weave/knit defects, print alignment
Garments Measurements, stitching, seams, trims, labels, appearance, and functional components
Quantity Pieces, rolls, sets, colour/size ratio, and carton assortment
Packaging Inner pack, carton strength, marks, moisture protection, and packed dimensions

Define sampling, tolerances, defect categories, test methods, and the person authorised to approve or reject the goods. “Warehouse photos” normally show only what was agreed and visible; they do not prove fibre composition or every unit’s quality.

Labels, brands, and customs descriptions

Textile classification can depend on fibre composition, construction, coating, intended use, gender or garment type, and other product details. Use a commercial invoice and packing list that describe the goods accurately. Do not rely on a generic HS code copied from another product.

For branded goods, retain invoices and evidence of authenticity or authorisation. Counterfeit labels, unauthorised logos, or misleading origin claims can create customs and intellectual-property risk. A supplier’s claim that a product is “export quality” does not establish legal brand rights.

Are textiles always ordinary cargo?

No blanket rule is safe. Plain, dry garments or fabric may often be treated as ordinary cargo, but review is needed when the shipment includes:

  • Flammable treatments, solvents, adhesives, dyes, cleaners, or aerosols
  • Wet, oily, contaminated, or strongly odorous goods
  • Battery-powered apparel, lights, trackers, or heated components
  • Strong magnets or magnetic closures in quantity
  • Animal-origin materials or products subject to permits
  • Machinery parts containing oil, gas, or chemical residue
  • Counterfeit or unauthorised branded goods

Share exact details before purchase and consult the restricted-items guide.

How long does textile air cargo take?

Mohsin Air Cargo normally targets 7–14 days for eligible cargo after the goods and required information are ready for the agreed handling process. Supplier production, inspection, sample approval, repacking, or waiting for several suppliers is separate from this logistics target.

Incomplete documents, product questions, capacity, weather, customs inspection, holidays, and final delivery conditions can extend the timeline. It is a planning target, not an unconditional guarantee. See our transit-time guide.

Frequently asked questions

Can I ship fabric samples from China to Pakistan?

Often yes, subject to exact product and import review. Provide composition, quantity, value, packed details, supplier location, and Pakistan destination. Sample status does not automatically remove customs or documentation requirements.

Is vacuum packing always recommended?

No. It may reduce volume for suitable goods but can damage crease-sensitive, structured, coated, embroidered, padded, or delicate textiles. Test the method and confirm final measurements before using it for a commercial shipment.

Can textiles from several suppliers be consolidated?

Potentially, after each consignment is identified and found eligible. Agree receiving, storage, inspection, repacking, mixing, and close-date terms before sending the first order.

Does Mohsin Air Cargo verify garment quality?

Freight receiving does not automatically include a complete quality inspection. Agree any internal counting, measurement, testing, sampling, or specification checks separately before supplier release.

Can Mohsin Air Cargo ship clothing from Dubai to Pakistan?

Not currently. Mohsin Air Cargo presently provides China-to-Pakistan cargo service. Dubai-to-Pakistan service is under development.
